Every Saturday, participants post photos based on a theme. The theme for this Saturday, March 29, 2008 is HIGH. I have a photo that represents the word high differently.

Congratulations to the home schooled students of Catholic Filipino Academy for their Graduation and Moving Up Day yesterday, March 28, 2008. We started the event with a Holy Mass. Below is a photo of Julian on stage as he recited “Where Go the Boats” a poem by Robert Louis Stevenson.

At first I was doubting if he has enough guts to recite a poem on stage because it was my idea to volunteer that he will do an intermission number for this program. My goal was to see if he is up to the challenge to speak in front of strangers. He didn’t disappoint us and the moment seem so fast it was over in seconds :D That gave us a different kind of “high”. We are proud of you, Julian :) (Sorry the photo is a little blurred, that was taken from the pc because that was from a video).

Length, Height, Distance

About Julian, Grade 1 Lessons, Mathematics No Comments

Length, Height and Distance

Length answers the question “How long?”

Width answers the question “How wide?”

Height answers the question “How high?” or “How tall?”

Distance answers the question “How far?”

We use the same unit of measure to compare lengths, widths, heights and distances accurately.

The length, width, and height of small objects are measured in centimeters.

We write cm for centimeter.

The length, width, and height of large objects, and long distances are measured in meters.

We write m for meter.
