•  Subtraction is the process of taking away a number from another number.
• The minuend is the number from which we subtract or the total number of objects.
• The subtrahend is the number that we subtract.
• The symbol for subtraction is – called the minus sign.
• The subtraction sentence is: minuend – subtrahend = difference.
• A number line can also be used for subtraction.
