Requirements in Applying to Quezon City Science High School
September 24, 2012 8:38 am From the Teacher, Homeschoolers No More, Mathematics, Philippines, ScienceIf you (yes, you, the parents) and/or your child plan to apply to Quezon City Science High School, here are the things you need to do:
Quezon City Science High School Requirements:
- 2 or 3 long envelopes (with stamps) with the child’s name and complete address written on the front
- 2 or 3 pieces 1 x 1 OR 2 x2 pictures
- 2 photocopies of Grade 5 grades/card
- grade 5 original grades/card
- for schools that have no numerical grades, ask the school guidance counselor or teacher-in-charge to give numerical equivalence of the grades
- letter of recommendation from the school principal
Grade Requirements for Applying to Quezon City Science High School:
- For Math, Science and English: average of 85
- Other subjects: average of 83
- General weighted average should be at least 83
The first screening for Quezon City Science High School SY 2013 – 2014 will be on October 22, 2012. It will run for one hour only.
First screening test will mostly be about general subject areas.
For those who passed the second screening, an interview will be scheduled.
- The first screening (October 22, 2012) and second screening (January 11, 2013) are already done with. There is absolutely nothing I can tell you how you can apply after the two screening because that is the school’s schedule.
- If in case you have other younger children you want to apply to Quezon City Science High School, I suggest you get in touch with the school as early as JUNE or JULY next school year.
- The results were mailed in the self-stamped and self-addressed envelopes that were given at the time of the application.

I just want to clarify that like you, I am a mom who wishes to have my child enroll in Quezon City Science High School and I am NOT in any way connected to the school. If in case we get a favorable result, then we will definitely enroll there. If not, well, there is still the youngest child to consider after a year.

Application for the Quezon City Science High School entrance exams first screening is NOTat the school campus anymore, proceed to the Quezon City Science Interactive Building at the QC Deped compound.

I think the school will post a list of the names of those students who passed the first screening. The children were given instructions that the results will be released in December.

Yes, Peter. The first screening was done last October 22 and it ran for an hour. They had several batches who came in for the first screening.

I called the school last week and the principal was the one who answered the phone, i asked her if the results will be posted at the entrance gate, she said no, she later told me if i want to know the results, i should see her…i was shocked, i will not use my precious time to see her, why?..feeling ko, she has something to offer , so i used the internet to search her name at SHOCKED ako..lots of allegations….tama ako …(deleted) …kasama sa allegations na (deleted)….Oh Lord….SA DAANG MATUWID PO TAYO (deleted)…Life is too short para (deleted) lang lagi nasa isip mo…di ko pa alam ang results pero ang SURE ako, di ako bibili ng results, tanggapin ko pag di makapasok ang anak ko. MAAWA KA…UMALIS KA DYAN…kawawa ang future ng mga bata na ang leader ay (deleted), sana na record ko ang usapan natin sa telepono para evidence ko….(deleted)

Margie, as you said you have read allegations. I really hope those are not true because a lot of my children’s schoolmates are enrolled there and if my child makes it through the next round we may probably enrol there too.The results were.mailed to our mailing addresses in the stamped envelopes we gave them.

i agree with marge.
When i submitted the application form of my daughter, the said principal gave me a flier of a certain review center. When i asked if its a good one, she said like….d mo ba ko kilala? (deleted) (deleted)
Dun pa lng alam mo na. I even innocently asked if she’s one of the reviewers. She just shook her head without answering.
Im not a fan of review center since for me u might be able to get your way in…but if nde talaga kaya ng bata baka d din nila kayanin to stay.

You are correct in saying applicants may pass the entrance exams but won’t be able to sustain the level of competence for the duration of their high school years.
Re review centers, that is sad 🙁

gusto ko lang pong malaman kung wala na po talaga chance mag apply ang mga hindi nakakuha ng first screening, gusto ko talaga dito mag aral kaso sa sobrang busy po sa school nawala po sa isip ko na early p pala ang submission at kuhaan ng exam, kung sa grades po nman maipagmamalaki ko po ang kakayahan ko especially in math and science. sana bigyan niyo naman po ng chance ang tulad ko n makapasok po sa school niyo. nasa private school ako ngayon pero by nxt school year wala n po kakayahan ang parents ko mgpaaral in private. sana maanswer po at matugunan niyo po ang kahilingan ko thanks po and god bless

We went to QSCI campus but did not see any result posted. Ang sabi ng nakausap namin it will be mailed pero as of this moment wla pa kmi narereceive. Ano ba talaga? January 11 na daw next exam.

I suggest you get the list of the top students from the elementary schools and that the principal should certify the list. I know one case of a student who was able to take the entrance test but does not belong to the top ten of their class.

Ask ko lng po kung nag2nd screening exam na po ung mga nakapasa ng 1st exam so far. May kakilala po kc nag exam dun di pa po na kikita ung results. Thanks!

My son is graduate of QCSHS. i HAVE A DAUGHTER now who is graduating in grade 6, unfortunately, she became covered of the new school program, 12K. What are we going to do? she wants to take the entrance tests but she has to attend yet her grade 7. What process or procedure should we do? Please enlighten, thank you!

Hi Hilda, I am NOT in anyway connected to QCSHS. Nagsulat lang ako ng patungkol sa application process upang makatulong sa mga magulang na katulad ko na nagnanais makapasok ang kanilang mga anak sa paraalang ito.
Kung taga Quezon City kayo, I suggest na try ninyo sa Roces Science High School, February yata ang pagbigay nila ng screening tests though gusto ko linawin na HINDI AKO SIGURADO SA DETAILS, mas mabuti na kayo ay pumunta sa paaralang iyon upang magtanong.

Hi Libs, ipinadala nila ang results gamit ang mga self-addressed, stamped envelopes na kasamang ibinigay noong application process. I think these were mailed sometime around November. I hope your child was able to make it to the January 11 second screening.

Hi Ann. I am not sure if they send mail notification in case the applicant did not make it. They SHOULD though, because that was what the self-addressed and stamped envelopes were for.

Hi Lala, I don’t think the school gives special exams outside of the scheduled ones. I’m sorry if you knew about the schedule and were too late to apply. I am not sure but someone told me that Roces Science HS is still open for applicants but I have to reiterate, I am NOT SURE. If you are interested (as we are too) you can go to the school and inquire.

Hi Danica, so sorry but the applicants have already finished taking the second screening last January 11. As I have told the other parents who wrote their replies, if you are from QC, try going to Roces Science HS and inquire if application to their school is still open.

Hi Merrill, I can not do you suggestion because I am NOT in any way connected with the school. I don’t think it matters if the student is a part of the TOP TEN in his/her class/batch, as long as the student qualifies for the average that they set, that is an average of 85 or higher, this student can apply.
I fail to see why the principal should certify a “list” because as long as the student complied with the requirements, he’she is qualified to apply.
Students who are the “top of the class” do not guarantee passing exams like these.

Hi Myra. My child who took the test is in grade 6 too. I am not too sure if you can still apply next year when she is grade 7 but better inquire so you can be ready with the requirements once the application process is open next SY.
Classmates of my older child who were all under the old curriculum were able to go to QCSHS after grade 6 while some entered after grade 7. Hope this helped.
