Reading and Writing Amounts of Money

(peso sign) is the symbol used for amounts in pesos.

(centavo sign) is the symbol used for amounts in centavos.

A decimal point (.) separates the pesos from the centavos. It is read as “and.”

Philippine Coins and Bills

We have the different coins – the 5-centavo, 10-centavo, 25-centavo, 1-peso and 5-peso coins.

We have six different bills – the 10-peso, 20-peso, 50-peso, 100-peso, 500-peso and 1,000-peso.
