Elementary School Lessons

The son wrote this post (with help on the first 2/3 parts of the paragraph, specifically with the subject-verb agreement) for his homeschool provider’s newsletter. Not sure if it will see print but I am posting the paragraph now.

Next post will be a repeat but will have the photos in his narration. He was able to write the paragraph with us looking at the photos I took.

I am JCF. I had lots of play activities. My first play was the planets. My weight in Jupiter is 45.1 kilograms. I saw my self in the mirror. My (younger) sister and I played on the bridge. We played bubbles. We watched the coin fall in the hole. We clapped in the echo tube. We played on the swing. Then we rode on the bike with the skeleton. We played the electricity ball. Then in the shadow room my shadow was left on the wall. Then I had a colorful shadow. The steady hand game is really hard. I like the Magnetic Repulsion Game. The abacus is big. I enjoy going to the Science Centrum.

Sequencing Events

Number the events as they happened in the story:

__ Little by little the rocks are worn out.

__ Water and limestone from the floor build up stalagmites.

__ Stalactites and stalagmites meet, forming columns and pillars.

__ In time, caves are formed.

__ Water and limestone from the ceiling form stalactites.

__ Running water finds its way to cracks of rocks.

Atmosphere

Air is a mixture of gases. Some of the gases are needed by living things to survive. The layers of air that cover the Earth is called atmosphere.

Weather

Weather is the condition of the atmosphere on a given time and place. Weather changes and it affects our daily activities. People should always be prepared for any changes in the weather.

Adding Amounts of Money

To add amounts of money, remember the following:

1. Make sure that the decimal points that separate the pesos from the centavos are all in one column.

2. Add the amounts just like the whole numbers.

3. Do not forget to write the correct symbol ( or ) and the decimal point in your answer.

There are seven continents around the world.

1. Asia, the largest and about one-third of the total land area on Earth.
2. Africa

5. Antarctica
6. Europe
7. Oceania

The different landforms are:

1. Mountains, elevated landforms
2. Mountain range, a group of closely spaced mountains
3. Volcano, an opening in the Earth’s crust from which very hot flowing materials and gas erupt
4. Hill, an elevated landform smaller than a mountain
5. Plain, a vast, flat landform
6. Valley, landform between mountains
7. Island, a piece of land surrounded by water
