2011 Run United 1 500m Dash

The younger daughter participated in yesterday’s Run United 1 (500 m dash) at the Bonifacio Global City.

We were all up half past 3am and on our way to the venue. The drizzles made me wary at first because we don’t want to get sick. However, since we already experienced a fun run with the rain falling in full blast, I knew my younger daughter is more than ready for this event.

After all, she’ll only do 500 meter dash which seems a walk in the park compared to last year’s Mommy Milkshake 3k run and Fun Run with Friends where she got a second place position after going around the UP Oval with some other kids including Kuya šŸ˜‰

So how did the younger daughter do? She placed 71st among all 384 children, 34th among 183 females and 18th among 96 girls in the 6-9 years old category.

Here she is enjoying a post-race treat šŸ˜€

Nowhere to go but up

The kids, especially the younger daughter, love Foldabot.

This is a Foldabot Dinosaur that the younger daughter made without help.

Here is the Foldabot Dinosaur at another angle.

Paper folding is one important aspect of child development that seems forgotten these days, with the children busy with their hand-held gadgets and online games.

Children should be good with their finger dexterity for fine motor skills necessary for cutting, pasting, tearing, folding, coloring and writing later on.

Skipped School

From the Teacher, Grade 2 Lessons, Younger Daughter No Comments

With the fluĀ hoppingĀ around and making people sick these days, I had to have my youngest daughter skip school today because she has not been feeling well herself. No high fever but she seems to be lethargic and does not seem to sleep well. Appetite is good though so it means she is not that sick. Ā I really hope so.

SheĀ reports though that there were several students in school with chicken pox. I hope there’s notĀ goingĀ to be an outbreak in the school as what happened last year. Ack!

So, here are ways on how to increase the immune level and be healthier and prevent these viruses and bacteria from making us sick.
