Mr. Potato Head Modelling Clay Project

Artistic Expressions, Enrichment, Homeschoolers No More, Images, The Son 2 Comments

This is Mr. Potato Head made from modeling clay of different colors.

Mr Potato Head

How to do the modeling clay project:

  1. Draw the figure you want to make using the modeling clay. Pattern the size of the drawing to the board where you will put the modeling clay character.
  2. Use rolling pin to flatten the modeling clay. In our case, we used a discarded cling wrap carton roll as rolling pin.
  3. Use other materials to shape the body parts like a plastic knife for a more precise cutting of the modeling clay.
  4. Make the parts of the (cartoon) character you want to make.
  5. Put the parts together.

Don’t forget to take step-by-step photos of your art project to document your progress :)

Mommy Milkshake Marathon Year 4

Images, Philippines, Weekends 4 Comments

We ran our first 3k, all the way from start to finish without shortcuts, under the pouring rain during the Mommy Milkshake Marathon year 4 for August as World Breastfeeding Month. Woohoo!

Mommy Milkshake Marathon 4

I know, 38mins is not a good time but with rains, a kid who tripped and ripped her jogging pants and another one who has to catch his breath and fears that he might have asthma attack later, it ain’t bad for us. At least, we finished :)

Watch a video from UNICEF about breastfeeding here.

Red Tree

Colors are fascinating. For young children, coloring is a super fun activity.

However, there can NEVER be one color for some of the things that we say they are. Leaves are not only green and apples are not just red.

If there is a blue sky, there is a purple sky as well.

And there are red trees. Fire tree. Flame Tree. Caballero. Arbol De Fuego. Whatever is this specie called, it is still the Red Tree for us and these trees are seen everywhere bursting with red and orange hues from April till July.

I used to have a student who, young as he was, has a creative mind. During the first few days of school, they were asked to draw their homes. He drew a tree planted near their home but instead of coloring the tree as having green leaves, he colored the tree RED. He said the tree in front of their house is red.

The teacher can not accept his answer it seems. This teacher, perhaps she hasn’t seen a red tree or is not as observant as her young student. Errr… teacher? Are you ok?

Plaza Roma is located in Intramuros, Manila. Like Spanish town, this is a place where the important places are located: church, official’s residences and the city hall.

Most towns in the provinces are arranged as such, with an open space, the plaza where people can congregate to celebrate important festivities.

At the center of the plaza stands a statue of King Carlos IV who was responsible in bringing in vaccine to help the Fiipino people.

This is what is written where the statue stands.
